Andrew Garfield is looking back at the time an allergic reaction landed him in the hospital while filming Never Let Me Go

In a recent Esquire video, the We Live in Time star recalled his experience working alongside Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley on the heartbreaking 2010 sci-fi romance film — and revealed that they accompanied him as he received medical attention.

“We had a lot of fun,” Garfield said of shooting the film. “There was one night, though, where we did have dinner together at the hotel we were staying at, the three of us, and of course I had a really severe allergic reaction to something at dinner.”

He continued, “And, of course, I had to go to hospital with two of the most talented, beautiful British actresses in the history of the game. That’s a Garf move. That’s full Garf move.”

Based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2005 novel of the same name, Never Let Me Go starred Garfield, Mulligan, and Knightley as Tommy, Kathy, and Ruth — three childhood best friends who are raised to have their organs farmed for humans. Along the way, a love triangle forms as they’re forced to confront their own mortality.

This isn’t the only time that Garfield’s allergies have raised serious concern during filming. His Under the Silver Lake costar Riley Keough revealed last year that she accidentally got the set shut down one day because she ate a peanut-filled granola bar just before shooting the pair’s kissing scene.

“The producer came in and was like, ‘Riley, Andrew’s very allergic to peanuts and we have to shut the set down. It shouldn’t have been at craft, and I don’t know why they’re on set,’” she recalled, noting that she was “just kind of like ‘Oh f—.’”

Keough added, “But also thank God that this woman caught it, because I had no idea!”
