Another key Bones creative has rallied behind a potential revival alongside leads David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. The Fox police procedural focuses on the cases of the Jeffersonian Institute Medico-Legal Lab, and their developing relationships in their personal lives. Beginning in September 2005, Bones ran for 246 episodes across 12 seasons to generally positive praise, plus several award nominations and wins for certain cast members and episodes.
After Boreanaz and Deschanel voiced their desire to unearth Bones for a new season, Reichs threw her support behind the two lead stars through her Twitter account.
Quote-tweeting fan account @nxnissTBL’s post sharing their excitement about Deschanel and Boreanaz’s recent Bones revival hopes, Reichs stated that she too hopes a revival will come to be. Reichs not only acted as a producer on the series, but she also penned the novels that inspired it, having drawn from her real-world experience as a forensic anthropologist.
What Is The Current Status Of A Bones Revival?
The Series’ Ending And Changing Perspectives Help A Revival’s Chances
Boreanaz first sparked talk of a potential Bones revival in August, with a noticeably more enthusiastic tone. Though he reiterated he felt that the show was a unique success that would be hard to replicate, he would always be willing to reunite with the cast and crew for any potential revival. Deschanel then responded to her co-star’s comments with surprise that Boreanaz was now open to returning, and shared her own openness about the possibility.
Furthermore, Bones‘ twelfth and final season did conclude at a place where a revival would easily be able to reunite the cast for new chapters of their lives. Despite the season concluding with a multi-episode storyline that endangered several characters and gave Brennan a major injury, most of the Jeffersonian Institute’s members emerged unscathed and went their separate ways. As such, reuniting the fan-favorite crew for new cases several years after viewers last met them would be easy.
Reichs now pledging her support to a potential revival might lead to streamers taking an interest in digging up the series for a new generation.
With a successful 12-season run, Bones was able to attract a strong fanbase that supports the series to this day, and would be open to supporting any new revival project. With more cast and crew following on from Boreanaz’s change of heart, it is clear that any revival could have the full support of the majority of the cast. Reichs now pledging her support to a potential revival might lead to streamers taking an interest in digging up the series for a new generation.
