One of the main story quests in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed you’ll have to finish on Skull Island is “Smee’s Boat,” where you have to find the locations of three different anchors. In your pursuit of Hook, you have to remove these anchors from Smee’s boat to free up the vessel. However, the vast Skull Island landscape can be difficult to navigate as you try to find these restraints.
Similar to how you find the Power boxes in Epic Mickey: Rebrushed in an earlier quest, you have to search for landmarks that act as clues to discover each anchor. On Skull Island, you can identify red flags that indicate where an anchor might be. This basic clue should help you paint the right path through objects in the environment to expose the objects you’re looking for.
Where To Find The First Anchor’s Location
Follow Hints Toward The First Flag
As you explore the Skull Island map, Mickey’s friend Gus will provide helpful hints for when you get lost. The first anchor can be found toward the northeast of the area’s entrance, which is indicated in the bottom right corner of the region map. Travel around this location until you see a red flag with a Jolly Rodger that Gus mentions could be a clue as to where some anchors might be.
The flag can be seen on a small rock island in the middle of the dark and dreary cove. Climb to the top of the island with the flag on it, then use Mickey’s Thinner to start erasing some of the environmental objects nearby. Doing this to one of the largest rocks here should reveal the anchor, which can also be erased.

Once you use the Thinner on the anchor, a rope will snap away from it, causing Smee’s boat to rise slightly in the murky water. A short cutscene will play and Gus will mention the possibility of other anchors in remote places on Skull Island. You still need to detach two more anchors this way to completely unveil the boat and complete the quest.
Where To Find The Second Anchor’s Location
Make Environments Disappear
Starting from where you found the first anchor, head down and to your right across the destroyed ship hulls lying in the water. This path will take you to another part of the Island, where a torch can be seen flaming on its shores. From this place, go right and keep jumping along the path of ships, but be careful, as one smaller island along this path has a strong armored enemy waiting to intercept you.
To defeat armored enemies, use your Thinner to stun them for a short time, then jump around and strike the green cylinder power source on their back enough times to take them down.
Once you defeat the armored enemy, keep heading forward across the broken ships until you reach another, small island. Just like before, this place has the same red flag indicating the presence of an anchor. To prevent confusion with the other details of Epic Mickey Rebrushed‘s gameplay, Gus will inform you again that you are close to this important location as you jump near it.
Travel alongside the left rocks of the small island where the flag is to start climbing up to the top of the area. When on top of the island, use your Thinner to get rid of the large tan stones and reveal a cracked passage into a cave below. Before you enter, spray Paint at the single enemy inside the cave to defeat it without a fight.
The anchor can be easily found within the cave, right before a large metal gate. Simply use your Thinner once again to make the anchor disappear, causing another cutscene showing the boat rising more out of the water. Thankfully, you don’t have to fight any boss in Epic Mickey Rebrushed for getting rid of any anchors.
Where To Find The Third Anchor’s Location
Paint To Reveal A New Path
Hitting a cog in the cave with the second anchor will open the gate, allowing you to start searching for the third and final anchor. From the cave, go up the island with the torch you visited before on your path to the second anchor once again. This time, use your Paint to reveal a set of wooden stairs leading up to the top of this distinct island.
This should also reveal a ship that is partially lodged into the side of the island, with doors you can use your Thinner on to reveal a path forward. Continue across the top of the island until you see a gap leading to another large island in the area. This place has a large purple contraption near a cave, where a metal gate closes off any other path until you hit the cog from the second anchor.
While traveling along the top of the island with the torch on its shores,
hit the steering wheel of the ship
near the top. This will activate an elevator you can travel up on to reach the top of the island again if you fall off.
Go across the broken bridge in the cave past the now-opened metal grate. Go forward past the enemy on the opposite side, then down onto the smaller platforms filled with other foes below. Although you don’t have to defeat every enemy to find the third anchor, doing so will make it easier to pursue the object of your interest.
The final flag should be visible on another small island just ahead of where you fought the small group of enemies. Gus will once again point this out, so follow his lead and travel up the rocks on the right side of the island to its peak. When you reach the top, use Thinner on the rock to your right to reveal a path of liquid being blocked off by the environment of this detailed video game remake.
From here, you need to guide the liquid through the path along the ground by using Thinner to reveal two wheels on the top of the small island. Hit both of these once to divert the path of liquid to the cog. Hit the cog to open the gate below leading into a cave, which has the last anchor you can use Thinner on to fully free Smee’s boat.
Some players on the Nintendo Switch version of
Epic Mickey Rebrushed
have been experiencing a bug where this quest fails to recognize any anchors being freed. If this is happening to you, try reloading an earlier save or turning your game off and on to fix this problem.
Anyone who lifts the boat fully out of the water will be able to use it to travel around Skull Island’s corrupted waters without harm. This progresses the main story of Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, allowing you to move on using Smee’s boat once you find all the anchor locations.
