Taylor Swift has yet to endorse any candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, but that hasn’t stopped Donald Trump from claiming otherwise. Over the weekend, the former president shared A.I.-generated images on social media that falsely claimed both Swift and her fans support his campaign for president.
The A.I. images show young women wearing “Swifties for Trump” t-shirts, as well as Swift herself dressed as Uncle Sam, saying, “I want you to vote for Donald Trump” in a parody of old military recruitment ads. Trump shared these in a post on TruthSocial, the alternative social media platform he founded, saying, “I accept!” to fake the endorsement.
Representatives for Swift did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment.

Swift’s endorsement is often highly sought after by leading American figures. Back in January, when President Joe Biden was still planning on running for reelection, the New York Times reported that his campaign was trying hard to secure an endorsement from Swift. She did endorse Biden during the 2020 election. Most recently, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles coordinated her all-around floor routine at this year’s summer games in Paris to Swift’s music, and won a gold medal for it (Swift loved it).
Now that Biden has declined to run again, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to face Trump in this year’s election. Swift has yet to comment on Harris — to be fair, she is still busy with her Eras Tour, which has now transferred from America to Europe — but some of her fans are taking initiative in her stead. The group Swifties4Kamala is already creating groundswells across various social media platforms, and is planning a kickoff Zoom call on Aug. 27 in the vein of other recently successful pro-Harris fundraisers like White Dudes for Harris and Win With Black Women.
Meanwhile, as Trump falls behind Harris in the polls, his media efforts have leaned increasingly on A.I. For instance, on his reinstated X (formerly Twitter) account, Trump recently shared an A.I.-generated video of Trump and Elon Musk dancing on the same day he posted the A.I. of Swift’s images on TruthSocial. Trump also shared an A.I. image of Harris giving a speech surrounded by communist imagery like the Soviet Union’s old hammer-and-sickle flag.
This week marks the Democratic National Convention, in which various luminaries from Harris’ party will gather in Chicago to promote her bona fides. Harris and Trump are set to have their first televised debate on Sept. 10.
