In the first two photos of her post, the couple had their eyes closed while they embraced as Afualo proudly showed off her engagement ring and a bouquet of roses. She knelt on a bed that was decorated with red rose petals, standing next to Tanuvasa.

Afualo posed solo in one photo in the set, putting her hand in front of her forehead to show off a cushion-cut diamond ring while holding the bouquet.

She also included a photo of the ring set against a background of the romantically decorated bed, in which rose petals were arranged in the shape of a heart.

In her TikTok video announcing the news on Sept. 2, Afualo, who rose to fame in part because of her outspoken comments against online misogyny and her signature laugh, shared more details about her relationship when replying to a comment that read: “7 years and no ring???? Girl stand up??!!!!!”

“Get into it, mama,” she said, laughing and flashing her ring at the camera. “Who needs to stand up?”

“Also, I’ve been saying this for f—— years. But there is no f—— timeline on dating,” she added. “My man knew he was gonna marry me within the first month of dating me. But neither of us wanted to get married until we were ready.”

Afualo continued: “But even past that. Thinking that a ring is gonna, one, make a man commit to you and two, make a relationship worth having is not only ignorant but misogynistic.”

She asked the commenter: “So, again I ask, which one of us needs to stand the f— up?”

Afualo shared that Tanuvasa bought her a ring for her birthday in 2023 and said it would be for her “wedding stack.”

She added that she didn’t pick out the diamond or pay for it because he did.

In his post about the engagement on Instagram, Tanuvasa wrote: “From saying no to going to prom w/ me 13 years ago to now, jokes on you love lmaooooo ❤️.”
