Goldie Hawn is still brainstorming her idea for a movie that would feature longtime partner Kurt Russell and their children.

When Hawn, 78, caught up with Entertainment Tonight at MindUP’s The Goldie Hawn Foundation charity event on Friday, Sept. 27, she added to a previously expressed desire to make a film with her entire family.

“Everybody goes to a wedding and everybody decides they’re going to separate,” Hawn said of a potential premise for the movie. “Oh yeah, it’s a comedy, by the way. But it doesn’t exist, it’s only in my mind. It’s very funny because weddings are funny and when everybody’s not getting along and you have to pretend it’s funny. We could do that.”

Hawn previously said during a June appearance on the Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast that she would like to make a movie with her family “before we all get, you know, too old.”

Hawn and Russell, 73 have been in a relationship since 1983. The couple share children Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson from Hawn’s previous relationship with Bill Hudson, and Wyatt Russell, their youngest son. Russell also shares his oldest son Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley.

Russell and Oliver, 48, weighed in about the potential family collaboration, with Oliver telling ET, “We have talked about it because there’s so many in the family that are in this business.” Russell said, “No, we don’t have anything solid. It’s just an idea that would be fun to do if it was right.”

“Oh gosh, I know exactly what she is talking about and it’s based on a wedding — maybe my sister’s first wedding,” Oliver added about Hawn’s idea. “Maybe. But it’s not going to happen … it would be a great movie about family, about togetherness, about acceptance about all of that.”

Oliver said he is currently developing an animated series that will feature his family members in voice roles, which Hawn originally told Ripa was in the works in June. “I think that’s where we will exist,” he told ET. “Animated is the perfect medium.”

Hawn most recently appeared on-screen in the two Netflix Christmas Chronicles movies, released in 2018 and 2020, as Mrs. Claus; the holiday-themed films also starred Kurt as Santa Claus.
