Mamie Laverock has finally returned home after sustaining life-threatening injuries falling from a five-story hospital balcony in May.
The family of the When Calls the Heart star posted a video of Laverock’s return home to her Facebook page on Aug. 19. As family and friends holding welcome signs gather around the ambulance carrying her, the doors open to reveal a smiling Laverock secured to a stretcher.
A separate post includes photos of a sign that reads “Home Sweet Home,” a cake with rainbow-shaped balloon display, and is accompanied by the caption, “Dreams do come true. Welcome Home, Mamie.”
The 20-year-old actress was first taken to a Winnipeg hospital on May 11 by her mother Nicole Compton after suffering a “medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.
She was later transferred to a hospital in Vancouver, where her parents Nicole and Rob Compton said that “her recovery is unclear at this time,” but that “she is alive and is showing signs of improvement.” Still, they noted that her healing process could take “upwards of a month or more.”
Just over two weeks later, Laverock’s parents announced in an update posted on her GoFundMe page that on May 26 their daughter had been “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.”
“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” they wrote. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”
Laverock’s on-screen family and costars immediately began promoting Laverock’s GoFundMe and campaigning for her recovery. “I love this family, my heart is broken,” read a May 27 post on X by Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s mother on the long-running Hallmark series. She continued, “A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”
To date, the Laverock family have raised nearly 40,000 CAD (around $29,000) to support Laverock’s recovery, which Laverock’s costar Erin Krakow confirmed was “on the mend” in June.

“She is on the mend. I’ve been in touch with her parents and it’s a really tough time for the family right now. They have sent their immense gratitude to [the] When Calls the Heart community for all their support,” Krakow said.
When the GoFundMe closed, Laverock herself posted a gracious thank you to the hundreds of donors: “Thank you so much, I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full. Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. Love you guys. Thank you. MAMIE.”
The actress has also appeared in Hallmark’s Spotlight on Christmas and Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events series. It has not yet been made clear whether Laverock is slated to return to When Calls the Heart, which was renewed for season 12 in May.
Laverock plays nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan on the series alongside Krakow, Newmarch, Jack Wagner, Kavan Smith, Ava Grace Cooper, Pascale Hutton, and until season 6, when news of the college admissions scandal broke, Lori Loughlin.
The series was adapted from Janette Oke’s Canadian West series and has run on Hallmark since 2014. Season 12 is slated to return in 2025.
