Hasan Minhaj isn’t staying up late worrying about what the internet thinks of his concertgoing habits.
The comedian, best known for his work on The Daily Show and Netflix special Homecoming King, had a hilarious response to the videos that fans posted of him looking a bit awkward at a recent Sabrina Carpenter concert.
Minhaj collected a series of the videos and images — of himself standing calmly and smiling, while soaking in the music — to his Instagram. He captioned it, “The internet won’t let me live.”
The first video, which he grabbed from TikTok user @neha.dharma shows Minhaj standing awkwardly in a crowd of dancing fans. He is smiling and appearing to enjoy it, but he is immobile, his hands clasped behind his back. It then cuts to another video of Minhaj from a closer overhead angle, and this one has a caption embedded that reads, “Why is bro here solo?”
Minhaj then shared two pages of social media comments about the videos, including ones noting how his pose is a classic “uncle” stance in Asian communities. “He looks like some uncle who brought his kids to a concert they wanted to go to and he is just there for the vibes,” one user wrote. Another asked, “Is he just….by himself? Lmao.”

The final slide in the image carousel shows Minhaj with three other concertgoers smiling for the camera. “Took the 186K team to the concert but y’all won’t let me live,” he wrote in a caption over the image.
186K is the name of Minhaj’s production company, which he cofounded back in 2021 alongside Prashanth Venkataramanujam. Their first venture, Best of the Best, is currently in production with Minhaj co-writing and starring. The film is set to be released via Amazon Studios.
