How To Find (& Rescue) Zevlor In Baldur’s Gate 3

You can rescue Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3, provided you follow some conditions and make the right choices. You will encounter this Tiefling Prince near the end of Act 2, depending on your choices earlier in the game. To free Zevlor from an awful fate, your party will need to fight some lethal enemies that could instantly kill you and your companions if you aren’t careful.

Before you can begin to save Zevlor, you need the help of the Tieflings during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3. This means you cannot slaughter the Tiefling group; otherwise, the quest to save Zevlor will not be available later on. Once you reach the Moonrise Towers in Act 2, the “Rescue the Tieflings” quest ties into the events from earlier where members of that group were captured.

Although he will be a prisoner, Zevlor can be found in the Mind Flayer Colony. The Mind Flayer Colony is a secret location that will unlock once you fight Ketheric Thorm for the first time. Thorm will run away to this location once you have done enough damage to him. Pursuing him will lead you to the colony, where you will find Zevlor.

The Colony itself is underneath Moonrise Towers, the large base of The Absolute cultists led by Ketheric. This area is swarming with enemies and acts as the ultimate place of battle during the final events of Act 2. You may want to explore the cursed Shadow Lands for experience, loot, and allies before charging into this place to drive back Ketheric and set your party on the path to save Zevlor.

Choosing not to rescue Zevlor will cause the character to meet a tragic ending in Baldur’s Gate 3, but if you want to save him, you will first need to battle many Mind Flayer enemies. Every Illtihid in the Mind Flayer colony can be difficult to face after Ketheric, so don’t forget to rest or heal before pursuing him. The Colony is a dungeon under another dungeon, making it a dangerous place to explore.

The Mind Flayer Colony has many enemies that can force a character to make a Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma saving throw, making items like the

good to bring here.

The “Find Zevlor” quest will mark where the Tiefling is on your map as soon as you enter the Colony in Baldur’s Gate 3. Toward the north section of this area, you will discover all the captured Tieflings at the end of a corridor trapped in Mind Flayer pods. Going to the right reveals a control panel that you can interact with to see what options you have regarding trapped people being turned into monsters.

You can manipulate this Control Panel near the pods, and this is where you will get the choice to either free Zevlor and all other NPCs in the room or purge everyone. When you choose to release Zevlor and others, you will have to face many Mind Flayers and several Intellect Devourers in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Depending on which companions you have in Baldur’s Gate 3, this battle can be easy or quite difficult to overcome. However, since you freed Zevlor earlier, he will help you out in the battle, giving you an advantage against the Mind Flayers. Once you defeat every enemy, a conversation with Zevlor will trigger, where you may choose to let him escape from the Colony so that he may atone for the mistakes he made in Act 1.

Should You Save Zevlor?

Always Better To Keep Your Friends Close

You should always take the time to save Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3, but not for any loot or items. Although you do gain XP for completing the quest tied to freeing Zevlor and his tieflings, the real reward comes from the friendship maintained with the leader. Zevlor assists you in the game’s final battle, alongside whatever tieflings you managed to rescue alongside him at the Mind Flayer colony.

This adds a huge pile of numbers to your group for the last acts of the story, giving you a great group of allies to call upon in battle. Zevlor is one of the strongest people to have on your team, as this character is a Paladin of great strength and magic. With someone on your side dealing Divine Smite or Searing Smite consistently, you should have a much easier time leading your party to victory.

Zevlor grows from a Level 4 Paladin in Act 1 to a Level 9

While there are no physical rewards when you find and rescue Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3, the decision to let him go will earn your approval from some companions and a future ally for one of the game’s greatest challenges.
