Jon Stewart addressed Kamala Harris‘ newly launched presidential campaign on Monday night, following The Daily Show‘s hiatus last week when President Biden announced he would not seek re-election.

“What’s done is done,” Stewart said. “You’re going to have to shift gears and recalibrate. You’ve had ‘Crooked Joe’ and ‘Sleepy Joe’ on speed dial. You’re going to need a new line of attack.”

Stewart then cycled through clips from Republican pundits complaining that Harris “doesn’t like Jewish people,” to which the comedian, Jewish himself, said: “Join the club, we’re getting crushed out there
right now. I’m not even sure how much we like ourselves.”

He went on to point out the claim had very little validity given that Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.

Later, the host played contradictory clips of various Republican politicians and pundits complaining that Harris has been both too soft on crime and too tough on crime.

“People, we open in three months!” Stewart said. “You’re flailing. Dig deep.”

Elsewhere, Stewart also addressed sexist claims that Harris’ “slept her way to the top” by having sex with other male politicians, to which the comedian said: “Joe Biden and Donald Trump literally slept their way to the top,” referencing instances both of the politicians were caught sleeping during meetings.

The end of the monologue addressed racist Republican rhetoric against Harris, who is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican parents.

“Two races in one person,” Stewart said as he mocked outrage. “If these people ever saw a Pizza Hut-Taco Bell, they’d lose their minds.”
