Kehlani is taking action against her ex Javaughn Young-White amid a custody battle over their daughter.

On Friday, Aug. 9, the “After Hours” singer, who uses she/her and they/them pronouns, filed a temporary restraining order against her ex in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Now, Young-White, 27, is prohibited from contacting Kehlani and their 5-year-old daughter Adeya Nomi directly or indirectly, including by phone or email. He must also stay at least 100 yards away from them, their home, workplace and child care facility at all times.

While the restraining order is in effect, Kehlani, 29 — who dated Young-White from 2018 to 2019 — maintains full physical and legal custody of Adeya.

In the documents, a judge also ruled that “there is a risk that [Young-White] might take the children without permission” because he Has a history of “abuse” and “not cooperating” with Kehlani.

Per the terms of the restraining order, Young-White is also prohibited from traveling with Adeya outside California, he can’t apply for passports or other travel-related documents and cannot possess or purchase firearms and ammunition.

A hearing for the restraining order request will be held on Sept. 3.

The day prior, Kehlani filed another document accusing Young-White of domestic abuse. In the filing, Kehlani accused him of “emotional harm, disturbing my peace, causing me to fear for my safety and our daughter’s safety.”

“He created a media frenzy that has now resulted in many people harassing me online,” she wrote of an alleged August incident, per the filing. “This is also terrible for our young daughter, who is not a public figure and should not be shown on sites and other media outlets. I have had to hire private security at our home to protect us.”

Per the filing, in a separate instance in early June, Kehlani claims that he became so enraged when she asked him to “finally leave my home and not return” that he “smashed through my locked bedroom doors.” At the time, he allegedly called her a “bitch” and a “liar” and blamed Kehlani for their daughter’s birth, claiming they “ruined” his “life.”

She also claims he was using “psychedelic mushrooms, smoking pot every day all day long in our daughter’s presence” while living in a back house on her property for co-parenting purposes. When Adeya would visit him, she would return “reeking of marijuana.”

“His mood was dark. He was acting out and causing me to feel unsafe in my home,” they claimed in the filing. “In the past when he got like this, he would often have religious rants, and I believe become so high he was in a semi-psychotic state.”

She also claims per the filing that they got into an argument when she was seven months pregnant and he became so angry he “threw a guitar at me.”

In the filing, Kehlani again requested that Young-White does not contact her and stay more than 100 yards away from her at all times. They also requested that he does not have visiting rights.

Young-White did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Days before the latest filing, Young-White filed for full custody of Adeya.

“Adeya was born through a home birth orchestrated by what I would describe as a cult that she belongs in,” Young-White wrote in the documents. “Due to the fact that Adeya was born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hospital, my name is not on Adeya’s birth certificate.”

He also alleged that the group controls their actions and behavior, “including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.” Young-White is asking the court to establish his paternity to exercise all his rights as the father. He is also requesting child support from Kehlani.

Then, on Aug. 7, Kehlani released a statement on her Instagram Stories in which she responded to claims that she’d put her daughter in danger.

“I strongly deny any claims that I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe,” Kehlani wrote. “I also do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media.”

“I have always taken great care to ensure that my child remains protected and safe at all times,” they continued. “My child and my commitment to motherhood have always been my sole driving forces in this life and will always remain so. This is who I am and what I have always been focused on.”
