In April, Melissa McCarthy posted a now-deleted photo of herself on Instagram with director Adam Shankman at the Center Theatre Group’s 2024 Gala in Los Angeles.

Among comments from McCarthy’s fans, Barbra Streisand wrote: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?”

The comment sparked backlash given that McCarthy’s post was not about weight loss.

Streisand, 82, then posted an apology, saying: “She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”

McCarthy, 53, hasn’t confirmed or denied whether she has used any weight loss medication, but she told Life & Style in 2018 that she lost 75 pounds through exercise and a high-protein and low-carb diet.

After Streisand’s comment, McCarthy posted a video showing that she had no bad feelings towards the iconic singer and actor. “The takeaway: Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me, and she thought I looked good!” she said, adding: “I win the day.”
