LG’s new transparent OLED television set is nearly here and you can pre-order it now. The TV can display both transparent and opaque video and it does so wirelessly. And if you want this new fancy TV, you just have to shell out $60,000.

The 77-inch Class LG Signature OLED T Smart TV might look like something out of a sci-fi movie, letting you watch movies or pre-rendered scenes as psedu0-holograms in your living room or bedroom. And when you want a “normal” 4K TV, all you have to do is hit a button and a screen rises to create a background for standard viewing.

As explained by Engadget, the tech seen in this new TV was first introduced at CES 2024. And this new tech, which is impressive looking, ain’t cheap. LG’s first transparent TV will cost you an eye-watering $60,000. You can pre-order one now, if you have that kind of cash lying around. The futuristic TVs will start shipping to customers in January. Sorry, you can’t get this for someone as a last-minute Christmas gift.

Another interesting piece of tech in this new TV is a wireless box that transmits any connected devices, like a PS5 or DVD player, to the screen without any wires. You just plug your consoles or whatever into the black box at the bottom of the TV and that’s it. Sounds neat and looks nice, but I do wonder how much delay it adds and if I would notice it while playing something like Fortnite. Sounds like something I need to test out! LG, send me one of these transparent future TVs ASAP! Or maybe I can convince Kotaku to buy me one for review purposes. (Editor’s note: lol no way dude.)

As a fun exercise, here’s a bunch of stuff you could get with that much money instead of this TV.

  • 10 PS5 consoles
  • 10 Xbox Series X consoles
  • 140 $70 video games
  • 1,660 gallons of Mountain Dew
  • 1,500 Taco Bell Quesadillas
  • A $20,000 used car
  • 4 iPad pros
  • And I’ve run out of stuff to buy, so you’d be left with like $10,000

If, however, you have $60,000 and are looking to spend it all on a single TV, you can pre-order the LG transparent OLED set right now on the company’s site or Best Buy. If you do buy one, invite me over to gawk at it for a few hours. Thanks!
