The biggest twist of Love Is Blind season 7 is that the show doesn’t follow Leo Braudy and Brittany Wisniewski after they get engaged in the pods. So Entertainment Weekly got Brittany to spill the details on what happened with Leo after filming ended instead.
While Brittany hadn’t watched the episodes at the time of our interview, she told EW that she was more excited than nervous to see her relationship with Leo play out onscreen. “I know what happened on my end, and I’m just excited, honestly, and to see all my friends’ journeys,” she said. “After the reveal, we made a pact, if we didn’t proceed with the show, to go to Miami together, and it was very fun the first few nights.”

Spending time with Leo outside of the pods for the first time was “such a strange feeling,” Brittany explained. “You have such a strong connection to someone, but then when they’re in your presence, it almost feels like a stranger because you have this physical body, and it’s just such a bizarre feeling.”
Before they went to Miami, they spent two days together in Los Angeles (where the pods are filmed). “After we left the set, that was such a fun time,” Brittany said. “We just rode scooters — we crashed into a cactus, pretty badly actually. I had to see a chiropractor when I got home, but we just had so much fun.”
Brittany and Leo continued to have “a blast” at the beginning of their post-engagement trip to Miami. “We had so much to talk about, what other cast mates look like, our experience on the [other] side [with the men and women],” she said. But after “a few days,” reality set in and they decided to end their relationship.
“There wasn’t anything major that happened,” Brittany revealed. “Honestly, I sometimes wish there was, because maybe it would give a better explanation to why things didn’t work out. It’s really just, you know when it’s right and you just know when it’s not, and we’re better off as friends.”
Being “away from home for so long” took a toll on Brittany, and she felt really homesick at the time. “I kind of got a little cranky, a little moody — I wanted to go home, I wanted to see my cats,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘I’m choosing to not be home right now.’ But I just wanted to be home. I apologized for my crankiness. I was super emotionally overwhelmed.”

Brittany revealed that the breakup was “super mutual,” adding, “we had this conversation of how things could work out, and we went over our daily schedules and how we would fit into each other’s lives, and then once we got to Miami, we just felt the disconnect. One night we had a very mutual conversation of like, ‘Okay, clearly some shift is happening here, and maybe we are just good friends.’ There is no bad blood or anything, so nothing crazy happened. I’m very lucky of how that turned out.”
Even without cameras, their relationship timeline was accelerated while on their trip. “Traveling with someone is a huge test to your relationship, and we didn’t pass the test of time with that one,” she said. “In the real world, that would have maybe been a whole month of dating. Something wasn’t there. And I can’t explain what it is, but we both felt it and we just had a mutual understanding of it and did our best, but we did ultimately move on.”
While it’s normal for Netflix’s popular reality dating experiment to only film some couples after the pods, it’s shocking that Leo and Brittany were not chosen to be one of the couples to go to Mexico for the post-engagement trip and beyond since their relationship was so tumultuous in the first batch of episodes (now streaming). Leo was in a love triangle with Brittany and Hannah Jiles, but proposed to Brittany after Hannah chose Nick Dorka. While Leo and Brittany did get engaged, Brittany wasn’t able to say that she loved Leo yet, and her final words on the show were, “Oh god, what have I done?”

A message then revealed onscreen, “Brittany & Leo were not one of the six couples chosen by producers to continue their journey in Mexico. They took their own trip to Miami and broke off their engagement weeks later.”
Brittany was “not surprised” that she and Leo weren’t chosen by producers to continue filming. “I knew,” she said. “I mean, we were the weakest link. I hadn’t said I loved him, whereas everyone else did. And that just wasn’t something that I could just say because it just didn’t feel right at the moment. I wasn’t in love with him. I was not surprised we didn’t move forward in the trip to Mexico, and we did our own thing. And of course, you build such a strong friendship with all the girls, so it was disappointing.”
Brittany won’t be watching the episodes with Leo, since he lives in New York City and she lives in Baltimore. “My plan is I’m actually going right back to Miami — my best friend lives there, so we’ll be right where it all ended,” she said. “I’m very excited to watch it first thing when it comes out with her.”
