McDonald’s Boo Buckets are back!

To kick off October, the fast food chain announced that the Halloween pails are returning on Oct. 15. Participating locations will stock up with the fan-favorite Boo Buckets, which come as a Happy Meal but double as a trick-or-treat bag.

The not-so-spooky buckets feature four new designs this year: monster faces in white, orange and green, plus a new blue color. According to a press release, fans can also personalize their pails with Halloween stickers.

McDonald’s warns that Boo Buckets will only be available while supplies last.

In October 2023, McDonald’s reintroduced their Halloween-themed pails. The candy containers made their official return after being introduced in 1986 and brought back in 2016 and 2022.

This year, fans flooded McDonald’s post on X with messages of excitement.

“It’s officially spooky season 👻,” one user commented. Another said, “I love Boo Buckets!!  I literally use them to trick or treat!”

McDonald’s is known for some beloved characters — like Grimace and Ronald McDonald — and collectible toys and items. In August, the company rolled out the “Collector’s Meal” on Aug. 13. The limited-time meal combined classic McDonald’s food items with one of six collectible cups, each decorated with nostalgic references.

The plastic cups are filled images of beloved characters including Barbie and Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola polar bears, Hello Kitty and Peanuts, McDonald’s mascots, and a combination of Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions.

McDonald’s taps into nostalgia with its Happy Meal toys as well. In December, after 25 years off the market, the chain restaurant brought back McNugget Buddies.

The chicken nugget-shaped toys were first introduced back in 1988, and came back in six different outfits and backstories. New York City-based artist Kerwin Frost helped design the mascots and create a meal paired with the revived toys.
