‘Octomon’ Nadya Suleman Becomes a Grandmother for the First Time

Nadya Suleman is a grandmother!

On Sunday, Sept. 22, the media personality — dubbed “Octomom” after giving birth to the first surviving octuplets in history in 2009 — revealed one of her sons has welcomed his own baby into the world.

Suleman, 49, shared a photo on Instagram showing the baby girl’s tiny foot peeking out from underneath a pink blanket.

Without revealing which one of her 10 sons had welcomed the baby, the star, who is a mom of 14, wrote, “Thank you my son and my lovely daughter in law for giving us this beautiful gift! We are so blessed that she is a new addition to our family!” 

“Baby girl you are so very loved and we can’t wait to watch you grow!! 8/30/24 🙏🏽❤️,” Suleman added, seemingly revealing the little one was born on Aug. 30.

Suleman was already a mom of six kids — Amerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Caleb, Joshua and Aidan — when she gave birth to her octuplets Noah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Josiah, Makai, Maliyah and Nariyah 15 years ago.

Despite stepping away from the spotlight in 2013, Suleman still shares family photos on social media, posting multiple childhood snaps of her son Joshua on Aug. 21 to mark his 21st birthday, suggesting in the caption that it was him who had welcomed a baby.

“I am so proud of the man you are becoming. You are smart, funny, hard working, loyal, humble, and now a devoted husband and soon to be father,” she wrote.

Before that, Suleman shared some snaps and a video of the family celebrating her birthday on July 11. The kids sang “Happy Birthday” to her before she blew out a candle on a cake after making a wish. 

“Thank you kids for making my birthday yesterday so special! I love you all ❤️,” she captioned the post on July 13.

Suleman also celebrated her octuplets’ 15th birthday on Jan. 27 with a sweet throwback photo, including in the caption, “I am so proud of the young adults you are growing into!”

When Suleman welcomed her octuplets, she was unemployed at the time, and turned to various ventures in a bid to support her family, including a nude photo shoot, pornography, boxing and an effort to trademark her “Octomom” nickname.

While speaking to PEOPLE in 2016 about her decision to walk away from her “Octomom” fame, the mom of 14 said, “I had stopped wanting to do it from day one.”

“I was violating my boundaries and my value system and my own self. I didn’t think of it at the time because I was in survival mode, and I was doing whatever I possibly could to provide for my kids,” she continued.

She added, “There was definitely a catalyst — my girls, particularly my oldest daughter Ameerah. She was about 10, and she started integrating my traits and behaviors.” 

“After I had observed my daughter beginning to emulate me, I saw her going down that same potentially destructive path, and I realized at that moment I’d rather be homeless in my van with all 14 kids than continuing down this path. It was not what I wanted for my children,” Suleman added.
