In a world where Miu Miu is charging £330 for a scoubidou keychain, Hermès £950 for a set of two beach rackets and Bottega Veneta more than £6,000 for a leather, animal-shaped bean bag, it was only a matter of time before a fashion label would release the world’s most expensive bathrobe. Of course, designers such as Missoni, Ralph Lauren and Dior did it first, but Australian sleepwear brand Shleep decided to do it better.
Branded as ‘the epitome of opulence and comfort’, its fleece bathrobe is knitted from 70% Merino wool, 23% silk and 7% cotton. It features a snug collar, waist-cinching tie belt and ‘exquisite’ trims, comes in three unisex colours (olive green, deep blue, feather grey and off-white) and is available in sizes to XS to XL. Oh, and its price tag ranges between £1262 and £1329. *Gasp*
Shleep’s dressing gown is a luxury not many of us can afford or justify, even if we have a really good reason to treat ourselves (a big birthday, or a promotion at work). However, we do believe it’s important to splurge on a fresh set of pyjamas or a new robe every now and then – consider it an act of self-care. And there’s no better time than the start of the cold-weather season.
High street giants such as Marks & Spencer, Next and John Lewis never disappoint when it comes to nightwear that’s both pretty and purse-friendly. Have a little more cash to spend? Check out the styles from Joules, Intimissimi and White Stuff. Or for the ultimate dressing gown indulgence, head to the White Company or Soho Home.
