A new The Boys prequel series titled Vought Rising has been announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, and here are 10 characters from The Boys franchise who could appear in the upcoming show. Vought Rising is one of the biggest announcements to come out of The Boys‘ SDCC 2024 panel, with it being announced as a prequel series set to follow Soldier Boy and Stormfront as they investigate a murder in the 1950s. The series has many The Boys fans excited, and here are executive producer Eric Kripke’s full comments on the all-new series:
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of
The Boys.
It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Screen Rant is at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, covering all of the latest and most exciting movie and TV show announcements from the long-awaited expo. A panel focused on The Boys kicked off SDCC 2024’s Friday, with it featuring some major reveals, such as the first Gen V season 2 trailer, the reveal that Soldier Boy will be a recurring character in The Boys season 5, and the announcement of Vought Rising. Soldier Boy and Stormfront are the only characters confirmed to return so far, but it would make sense for these 10 characters to appear in the 1950s setting.

10 Crimson Countess
Appears In The Boys Show
One of the most obvious supes who could appear in Vought Rising is the former Vought superstar, Crimson Countess. Crimson Countess is a former Payback member who played a major role in The Boys season 3, with her being one of the supes who Soldier Boy tracked down and killed due to her role in Vought’s betrayal of Soldier Boy.
Crimson Countess’ age in The Boys season 3 is unknown, but based on the lore of the franchise, she is one of the few characters in the show who could have been active in the late 1950s. Crimson Countess had movies made about her superheroics all the way back in the 1960s, meaning that she was probably active as a supe before then. Thus, it is possible that Soldier Boy could bump into her at some point in Vought Rising, with the prequel showing the start of their partnership.
9 Bombsight
Mentioned In The Boy Show
Outside of Soldier Boy and Stormfront, one of the earliest known supes to exist in The Boys universe is Bombsight. Bombsight isn’t from The Boys comics, but the supe is briefly mentioned in The Boys season 4. At Vought’s V52 Expo in The Boys, the company showed off their long history of movies, with the first one being titled The Curse of Fu Manchu. Not much is known about the film, but it is revealed that the in-universe 1953 movie is about a supe named Bombsight, meaning that he was active during the events of Vought Rising.
Since Bombsight is one of Vought’s first confirmed supes in Amazon’s The Boys universe, it makes sense for him to have his proper debut in Vought Rising. Paying off The Boys season 4’s Bombsight tease by including him in Vought Rising would be a fun treat for eagle-eyed fans, with the war-themed hero being a great addition to the show’s post-war setting.

8 Swatto
Appears In The Boys Show
Another one of the few early supes seen in Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys that could be around in the 1950s is Swatto. Swatto is a bug-themed supe who has the power to fly using insect wings on his back, with him being a member of Soldier Boy’s Payback team in the 1980s. Unlike the other Payback members, very little is known about Swatto due to the character dying during Operation Charly, with his age still being a mystery.
Since Swatto’s story has gone undeveloped throughout The Boys, it would be easy for Vought Rising to simply explain that he is a little older and add him to the show’s cast. Having Soldier Boy, Crimson Countess, and Swatto work together in the series could turn Vought Rising into a Payback prequel as well, with the series being the perfect opportunity to flesh out the The Boys season 3 character.
7 Steel Knight
Mentioned In The Boys Show
Steel Knight is a supe who hasn’t appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys universe yet, but he is a character who plays a role in the comics. Steel Knight was one of the first supes released as part of Vought’s first crime-fighting initiative in the 1950s, with him being a member of Soldier Boy’s Avenging Squad. Steel Knight is a predecessor to The Boys‘ Tek Knight, with the character sporting a massive suit of armor that he uses in battle.
Although he hasn’t appeared in The Boys TV show yet, Steel Knight has been mentioned. In The Boys season 3, The Legend tells a story involving Steel Knight, meaning that the character is confirmed to exist in the TV show’s past. Thus, it would make perfect sense to include Steel Knight in Vought Rising, fleshing out this season 3 tease.
6 The Legend
Appears In The Boys Show
The timeline of The Boys is a little murky, as the TV show had to make everything from the comics occur a few decades later due to the time difference between releases. The fact that The Legend tells a story involving Steel Knight in The Boys season 3 is a strong piece of evidence that The Legend was working for Vought in the 1950s, meaning that the character could appear in Vought Rising.
The title Vought Rising implies that the show will be about the origins of the entire company, not just its supes. Thus, it makes sense for major Vought employees like The Legend to appear in the series, as The Legend was a vital figure in turning the supes of The Boys into public figures and celebrities. So, it would be fun to see a younger actor take on this role in the prequel series.

5 ManBot
Appears In The Boys Comics
While there aren’t too many supes from The Boys TV show who were alive in the 1950s, there are several supes who haven’t appeared in the show yet and were alive at this point in the timeline. ManBot is one of these supes, with him being another one of Vought’s first heroes. ManBot is an android supe who acts as a parody of Marvel’s Vision, with the character being rolled out as part of the company’s initial crime-fighting initiative.
An entirely robotic supe isn’t something that has been seen yet in Amazon’s The Boys universe, and having an android character made out of 1950s technology seems like an interesting new angle. ManBot is one of the characters who could make Vought Rising unique, and the character’s timeliness means that he could also pop up in other future The Boys projects.
4 Jack From Jupiter
Appears In The Boys Presents: Diabolical
In The Boys comics, Jack from Jupiter is one of the members of The Seven, which is why it is surprising that he hasn’t appeared in The Boys TV show at all. While Jack from Jupiter did have an appearance in one episode of The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Jack from Jupiter has been entirely excluded from the main series, which is why he could finally make his live-action debut in Vought Rising.
Jack from Jupiter is unlike any other The Boys supe, as he is the alien-like member of the team. The character’s unique biology means that his age isn’t really a factor in The Boys‘ timeline, meaning that he can appear at any point. Since the main series seemingly has no plans for the characters, it would be fun to bring him back in Vought Rising, especially due to the UFO and alien craze of the era.
3 Black Noir
Appears In The Boys Show
The original Black Noir sadly died in The Boys season 3, but Vought Rising could be the best opportunity to bring the character back. Black Noir started out as a supe in the 1970s and 1980s, with him working alongside Soldier Boy on the Payback team. Although Black Noir wasn’t a supe in the 1950s, there still is a way that he could appear in the prequel show.
Black Noir could have a small cameo in Vought Rising, with the show featuring a younger version of the character. Soldier Boy could come across a child or teenage version of Black Noir, adding some more to the character’s backstory before his superhero transformation. This would be a fun way for Vought Rising to impact the world of The Boys even further, and Black Noir is one of the few characters that this can be done with.

2 Chloe Vought
Appears In The Boys Show
One often-forgotten character who would perfectly tie in to the story of Vought Rising is Chloe Vought. After Stormfront first became a supe, she had a daughter named Chloe Vought, with her father being the company’s founder. Chloe Vought died shortly before the events of The Boys season 2, but an image of an elderly version of the character standing next to Stormfront can be seen.
Giving Stormfront a daughter in Vought Rising could add a much-needed human element to the character, giving her more to do than simply being an evil supe. Since characters like Soldier Boy and Stormfront are basically irredeemable, having an innocent child appear in the show could give Vought Rising some heart, making her off-screen passing even sadder. The Chloe storyline is ripe for expansion, which is why she needs to appear in The Boys prequel.
1 Frederick Vought
Mentioned In The Boys Show
Of all the unannounced characters who could appear in Vought Rising, Frederick Vought is one of the most important. Frederick Vought is the founder of Vought International and the Nazi scientist who invented Compound V, with him turning Stormfront into a supe. The 1950s setting perfectly lines up with this part of The Boys‘ lore, meaning that he needs to appear in the prequel.
Since the series is titled Vought Rising, the origins of the company will undoubtedly be incredibly important to the show’s story. Since Frederick Vought is the founder of Vought, it only makes sense for him to appear, as he is the character that incited the entire The Boys universe. Frederick Vought is one of The Boys’ biggest yet most underdeveloped villains, which is why he should finally have a proper role in Vought Rising.
