For the past year, I’ve been determined to focus on building a capsule wardrobe. However, as a fashion editor reporting trends, I’ve found myself giving in to the latest crazes, which has sidetracked me from my original goal. Now, I’m making a conscious effort to stick to my goal and invest in elevated basics that work for all aspects of my life. To do this, I’m looking to different brands and retailers, specifically Banana Republic.

The San Francisco–based brand has been on my radar for a while, but recently, it’s been gaining attention in my inner circle of fellow editors and friends. Fashion people have told me they love Banana Republic because of its investment-worthy basics that feature an affordable-luxury price tag, timeless style, and high-quality signature fabrics. For example, a friend has raved about the classic trench coats, and a colleague can’t stop talking about the soft cashmere sweaters that are perfect for building a forever wardrobe.
