As a sports team owner and the wife of a Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brittany Mahomes spends a lot of time in the public eye. But her only sibling, Devin Matthews, flies a little more under the radar.

Like his sister, he was raised in Texas by parents Diana Lindenberg and Scott Matthews. The mom of two and personal trainer shared that her parents split up when she was very young.

“I don’t even ever remember them being together,” Brittany said on The @HoboDia Show in 2016. “I don’t know what it’s like to have parents that aren’t divorced. I mean, it’s been my whole life.”

Although their parents split, the siblings maintained a close relationship. While Brittany went on to play soccer in college and launch a career in sports team ownership with Kansas City Current, Devin joined the military.

Here’s everything to know about Brittany Mahomes’ brother Devin Matthews.

Devin and his sister grew up in Whitehouse, a small town that sits just south of Tyler, Texas. During a 2020 interview, Brittany described her family as being “big into sports” and that she was the kid who played every sport she could.

The former soccer player also told E! News in 2024 that she wanted to raise her kids around dogs to help teach them responsibility and how to be gentle and kind, noting that her family had them when she was younger.

“I always had dogs in my household growing up,” she said, “so I definitely want to do the same for my kids.”

Diana and Scott divorced when Brittany and Devin were young. After splitting up, Diana stayed in Whitehouse and remarried soccer coach Paul Massey. They stayed together until his death in 2018, and she married her current partner, Lance Lindenberg, three years later.

Scott also remarried and moved to Dallas, though the distance didn’t deter him from being there for his kids. Brittany told The @HoboDia Show that her dad attended many of her soccer games at the University of Texas at Tyler, and she wrote a sweet Father’s Day message for him on Instagram in 2018.

“So grateful for you and everything you do for Devin and I,” Brittany wrote. “We have always had what we needed and have always had an amazing role model to look up to!”

He’s a veteran

According to his LinkedIn profile, Devin enrolled in the U.S. Navy in 2012. He spent the next six years working as a missile technician, where he was “responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles carried on submarines,” per his LinkedIn. He left the Navy in February 2018.

Brittany honored her brother’s service in a 2015 Instagram post.

“Happy Veterans day to both of my grandpas (one not pictured) and my brother!!” she wrote. “So proud of all three of them and there’s not a day goes by that I wish I still had my grandpa and my pop pop by my side!! Love them all tremendously and blessed that they were and are a part of my life!”

Brittany shared photos on Instagram of her and her mom visiting her brother in 2018 while he lived in San Diego.

According to his LinkedIn, Devin graduated from San Diego State in 2022 and currently works for an auto body repair company in North Texas that specializes in post-collision repair and restoration.

Their daughter, Sterling Skye, was born on Feb. 20, 2021, and their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, was born on Nov. 28, 2022. The couple are currently expecting their third child, announcing the happy news on Instagram on Friday, July 12.

While Devin doesn’t appear to have a public profile on Instagram, his mother often shares photos of their family get-togethers.

In February 2024, Diana posted a collection of photos that showed Devin attending his niece’s 3rd birthday party.
