One of James Gunn’s new cast members in the upcoming Superman movie opens up on why David Corenswet is the right fit as Krypton’s last son in the DC Universe.
During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant’s own Joe Deckelmeier while promoting Alien: Romulus, Isabella Merced, who will star as Hawkgirl in Gunn’s Superman movie, was asked what her thoughts were on Corenswet’s interpretation of the iconic DC hero. Merced, who will specifically play the Kendra Saunders version of Hawkgirl, called her co-star “an angel,” stressing that “he is very much Superman,” as she said the following:
That man is an angel. He is very much Superman, he very much has that energy, and I admired working with him. His patience is incredible with his little tight suit in those hot days! I mean, he never complained once.
I’ve been very lucky to work with people like him and Cailee [Spaeny in Alien: Romulus] whose professionalism is just so inspiring. You just go, “I can’t complain for s–t.” They’re doing so much more work and have so much pressure on their backs, yet they handle it with such ease. That was really cool to watch.
