The biggest difference between traditional and 3×3 basketball is the former has 12 players (five on the court and seven in reserve), while the latter only has four players on the team (three on the court and one in reserve). Additionally, 3×3 basketball plays in the half-court, which has a faster pace and playing style, while traditional plays full-court b-ball.
For 2024, there are eight national teams representing eight countries, including the United States, China, France, Azerbaijan and others.
Women’s 3×3 basketball runs from Tuesday, July 30, until Monday, Aug. 5, with the gold medal game at Place de la Concorde in Paris. For their first match of the Summer Olympics, Team USA plays against Germany in Women’s Pool Play on Tuesday, July 30, starting at 8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET on NBC.
