Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.
With the return of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and Kate Moss’ surprise appearance, I’ve been feeling wildly nostalgic.
After watching her make her runway debut for the brand, alongside her daughter no less, I did the next logical thing: I took a stroll down memory lane to browse some of the model’s best looks from the ’90s. And while I wasn’t alive to see many of them, I came across one that would fit right in today.
In December of 1994, Moss was spotted in the airport in a chunky cable-knit sweater, which Jennifer Garner wore on an Architectural Digest cover last month. She also had on some shiny satin or silk pants similar to the ones we’ve seen on Oprah and Katie Holmes. She finished things off with a pair of fall-ready booties.
Kate Moss’ Outfit Blueprint
Dokotoo Cable-Knit Sweater
When celebs start coming out in cable-knit sweaters, I know cold weather and the holiday season will be around in the blink of an eye. This one has a taller neckline that’s not really a turtleneck, which celebs are also already slipping into, and it has slightly puffed sleeves, making it a “classic with a twist,” according to one shopper. A second shopper also noted that it’s “soft, comfortable, and warm without being bulky.”
Reformation Gale Satin Mid-Rise Bias Pants
I’ve had these particular pants on my wishlist for months now. They are a little pricey, hence my hesitation, but Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba, and Holmes all wear Reformation, so it’s understandable. (I found more budget-friendly options, too.)
The relaxed fit seems enjoyable for almost every activity I can imagine — even sitting on an airplane for hours. The “magnetic” color is also a stunningly unique neutral that’s not a blue denim wash or a heavy dark color. And they’re available in a leopard, which is a pattern I’ve been wearing a lot this year.
Nordstrom Rack Normandy Block Heel Booties
Black boots are basically the white sneakers of fall and winter — meaning they’re the “it” shoes for cold weather. This pair has a fairly tall heel, but the block design looks more comfortable than the painful and hazardous stilettos models wear on the runway. And they come in half sizes, eliminating the need for socks as extra padding.
