Lindsay Lohan has found her “ultimate you” for Freakier Friday: The Good Place and The Acolyte actor Manny Jacinto.
While Disney previously announced that the actor would join the Freaky Friday sequel in an undisclosed role, the pair tell Entertainment Weekly that the entertainer will portray the husband of Lohan’s character, Anna, who, thanks to a mysterious curse, swapped bodies with her mother, Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), in the first film.
“Manny plays Lindsay’s husband. But that’s like as much as we can say,” Curtis tells EW, explaining that they are still in the middle of shooting.
“Manny is lovely. So funny,” Lohan chimes in of her new onscreen love interest.
Lohan’s former onscreen love interest, Chad Michael Murray, will also be back, reprising his role of Jake from the beloved 2003 comedy. Last month, Disney shared an image of Murray in character, complete with a new motorcycle.
“Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, is Chad in it,” Curtis teases of Murray’s return in Freakier Friday.
Though Curtis refers to Jacinto as Anna’s husband, the official synopsis for the upcoming film (directed by Late Night helmer Nisha Ganatra), only alludes to the younger woman having “a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter” who must “navigate challenges that come when two families merge.”
EW previously viewed a casting call for the film that included unverified character descriptions that called Anna a “longtime single mom” who “is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davis,” to the dismay of her “tomboy” daughter, Harper.

In addition to Lohan, Curtis, and Murray, several other stars from the first movie have been announced to return to the Freaky Friday universe, including Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
Director Mark Waters’ Freaky Friday film became a global success at the box office for Disney 21 years ago, grossing over $160 million worldwide on a modest budget. It courted further audiences with sustained airings on the Disney Channel throughout the aughts.
Freakier Friday will be released to theaters in 2025.
