See How the Kardashian-Jenners Celebrated Grandma MJ’s 90th Birthday

Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon is celebrating her 90th birthday in style!

The mom of Kris Jenner celebrated her milestone birthday on Friday, July 26, when she was honored by four generations of her family. 

Shannon’s granddaughter, Khloé Kardashian, posted some highlights from the special birthday festivities on Instagram, revealing that the family matriarch had a party featuring an array of balloons in shades of purple and cream, a balloon sign that appeared to read “Happy Birthday MJ” and an elaborate cake.

First up, Khloé, 40, shared sweet snaps of herself and her daughter True, 6, posing for selfies at the birthday bash.

Other snaps in her carousel showed Rob Kardashian’s daughter Dream, 7, and Cici Bussey also posing with True and her mom, as well as True posing solo and with her mom in front of a balloon sign.

The final photo showed a cake covered in cream-colored flowers made of icing with a heart-shaped chocolate message that read, “Happy 90th birthday MJ!!!”

“Happy birthday sweet MJ! Ninety years of brilliance! It is a momentous milestone that marks a lifetime of experiences, memories, and wisdom,” Khloé wrote in the caption of her post. “Embrace this milestone with pride, knowing that each year has added to the richness of your amazing story. And boy, do you have stories.”

She added, “You remember each one so vividly. What a life you have lived and we are beyond grateful that we get to be your grand babies. By Gods grace we are all together and you are forever thriving! Happy Birthday 💋.”

Kim Kardashian also posted a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of the birthday celebrations on her own Instagram account, sharing a sweet video that showed Shannon sitting by her cake as some of her great-grandchildren, including Kim’s kids — Chicago, 6, Psalm, 5, and Saint, 8 — were joined by Dream, True and Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi, 6.

In the clip, Kim, 43, filmed her grandma as “Happy Birthday” was sung. Shannon then took a little taste of the icing on her finger and encouraged Stormi to do the same, prompting the little girl and her cousin Chicago to dip their fingers into the cake.

Kim and others then encouraged Shannon to make a wish, to which she sweetly responded, “I wish this would never end,” before blowing out her birthday candle.

Another post shared on the SKIMS founder’s Instagram Stories revealed some very special party favors that were provided by Jenner, 68.

“The princess Diana beanie baby party favors tho,” Kim wrote over an image of several purple Princess Diana Beanie Babies sitting amid flowers on a table.

“My grandma sold them in her kids clothing store 35 years ago and my mom kept them all this time,” she added.

The Princess Diana Beanie Baby by Ty Inc. is a special edition commemorative plush toy that was released just months after the royal died in 1997.

“My sweet and stylish MJ turns 90 today! I don’t know what I would do without you grandma. We have the best memories that I’m burnt into my soul forever!,” Kim wrote in another post she shared on Instagram.

“From staying with you in the summers growing up and u taking us to the beach to our long Sunday talks and tea sessions. You really have been the best example of strength and independence,” she continued. “Seeing you start a business and run your store has been so inspirational! But seeing you beat cancer twice without any complaints and showing us what it takes to fight has set the tone for all of us and our outlook on life,”

Kim concluded the message, writing, “I just can’t even describe on here much you mean to me and all of us. Forever the voice of reason and the best advice giver best friend vault in the whole wide world! Happy Birthday grandma. I love you so much!

Meanwhile, MJ’s daughter Jenner posted several messages on her Instagram Stories in honor of her mom, as well as a heartfelt note along with a carousel of images of her mom throughout the years.

“Thank you my beautiful mommy, for teaching me to be a strong, independent woman, thankful for everything, expecting nothing, but willing to work as hard as I can for everything and at the same time to be kind to everyone and generous beyond measure. You taught us by example,” she wrote.

Jenner continued, “God has blessed us with 90 years of beautiful you, and I thank Him every single day for another precious day with my best friend. Thank you for all you do for all of us and for every single fabulous moment and memory that I cherish. You are truly my role model and hero and I love you more than you will ever know. I love you, Kristen xo🎂🥳❤️🙏🏼.”
