The Chloe-inspired fashion trend that's all over the high street

Every now and then a catwalk show comes along that leaves us thinking ‘I want to wear all of that’, and for autumn/winter 2024, it was the Chloe collection that captured our hearts.

A romantic affair full of frills, ruffles and lace, Chloe’s runway nevertheless stayed on the right side of froth thanks to a counterbalance of chunky gold jewellery, slogan belts and thigh high boots.

The Chloe runway has spawned an explosion of trends on the high street, among them a proliferation of lace, sheer and ruffled fabrics that are high on our wish list for autumn.

While the models of the runway went for a bold, braless look with their see-through outfits, there are of course more, ahem, socially acceptable ways to wear sheer day-to-day, which brings us on to the selection of fabulous Chloe-inspired blouses on the high street right now.

From voluminous, layered shirts to pretty, lace blouses, we’ve found tops that tick the trend box while also offering a sophisticated, sexy look for autumn.

‘The key to wearing sheer is balance’ says You’s Fashion Director Sophie Dearden, who recommends only glimpses of flesh through sheer fabric, rather than a full outfit that reveals every pore. Team your blouse with an on-trend kilt or wide-leg trousers and you’ve nailed the brief.

H&M is one high street retailer that’s gone big on the Chloe look – recently, its shop windows were awash with ruffled dresses and tiered tops. M&S has a great polka dot gauzy blouse, while Mango has gone all Pirates of the Caribbean with long, fluted sleeves on its sheer shirting.
